    Dr. Brent Young (He/Him)

    Clinic Lead and Physician

    Dr. Brent Young is an Anishinaabe family physician. He was born and raised in Unama’ki (Cape Breton, NS) as a result of his mother being displaced from her home community of Sandy Bay First Nation during the Sixties Scoop. Since returning to Mi’kma’ki, he has been focused on supporting local community groups in the development and implementation of Indigenous-specific primary care services.
    Dr. Young generally sees patients on Wednesdays.

  • Paulina Meader (She/Her/Nekm)

    Health Director
    and Licensed Practical Nurse

    Paulina is a proud Mi'kmaw woman from the traditional lands of Unama’ki and is a member of Membertou First Nation. She draws from her experiences as an Indigenous woman, a nurse, a birth-worker, a knowledge keeper, and a person who lives with a chronic disease. She is a fierce and effective advocate against systemic racism in healthcare - especially when it comes to end of life, pediatrics, and care of birthing parents.

    Dr. Tiffany O’Donnell is a primary care provider with certification through the International Society of Addiction Medicine. She practices in Sipekne’katik First Nation, at the Wije’winen Health Centre, and with Mobile Outreach Street Health. She’s passionate about Indigenous Health, trauma informed care, and harm reduction.
    Dr. O’Donnell generally sees patients on Thursdays.

  • Dr. Matthew Lee (He/Him)

    Dr. Matthew Lee (He/Him)

    Physician

    Dr. Matthew Lee is a family doctor from Kjipuktuk/Halifax. He completed medical school at Dalhousie University, and currently works at the Wije’winen Health Centre, the Newcomer Health Clinic, and the Halifax Sexual Health Centre. In addition to general primary care, Matthew has a special interest in gender-affirming care.
    Dr. Lee generally sees patients on Tuesdays.

  • Dr. Ashley Williams (She/Her)

    Physician

    Dr. Ashley Williams is a family physician who grew up the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nation. She has recently moved to Kjipuktuk/Halifax with her partner and their dog Fernie. She is passionate about maternity and newborn care. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and friends, playing rec soccer and drinking good coffee.
    Dr. Williams generally sees patients on Mondays and Fridays.

  • Camille Brockmann (She/Her)

    Registered Nurse

    Camille is a Registered Nurse who is passionate about health equity and justice. She has worked to increase the services offered in the clinic so that patients can access care in a welcoming, safe space. She is a dedicated ally and is always open to learning opportunities. When she is not working she is usually out walking her dogs or quilting.

  • Shonna Brown (She/Her)

    Mental Health Nurse (LPN)

    Shonna is a Mi'kmaw woman and member of Acadia First Nation and Native Council of Nova Scotia. She is a nurse, mother of 2, a lifelong learner, an ally, and advocate for mental health and addictions care. Her goals of care are providing a safe and culturally informed space for all to access comfortably. Since graduating, Shonna has worked in a variety of mental health and addictions healthcare environments and brings with her experience and knowledge from each opportunity to her role at the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre.

    Tanya started working at MNFC in July 2022 after working as a student for her work placement. She was born and raised in HRM and enjoys crafting and spending time with family and friends.

    Medical Administrative Assistant

    Leah started working at the clinic in July 2022 to give back and help her community. She grew up in Halifax and enjoys reading, writing, and finds peace in nature.
