What to Expect During Your Visit

Finding the Wije’winen Health Centre

We are located at 209 - 2021 Brunswick street. It is a shared building called Brunswick Place. The main door is down the hill to the left, follow the signs for Wije’winen/Amatukatmkewey. There is visitor parking available for patients just before the main doors. Enter through the main Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre door (which will be locked, ring the bell and the front office staff will open the door remotely). When entering the building turn left and walk past the front office, the Clinic doors/waiting room is on the left.

Pjila’si! Welcome to the Clinic

When you arrive, please speak with the administrative assistant at the window - they will check you in. If this is your first appointment you will get some forms to fill out and you will be asked to show your health card and your proof of Indigenous Identity (like a Status Card or one of our other options). If you would like help with these form the administrative team can go through the the forms with you. You will be called in by a nurse, who will complete a health and medication history, take your vitals and sometimes record your height and weight (optional). Then you will be introduced to your doctor and will complete the rest of your appointment. At the end of your appointment, your doctor will let you know if you need to book in for another appointment and when. If the doctor has ordered blood work it can be completed in the clinic. Follow-up appointments and blood work can be booked on your way out.
